Empirical research aims to gain knowledge through direct and indirect experience and observations. Such empirical evidence can be analyzed qualitatively or quantitatively. This course introduces participants to various approaches of conducting qualitative research projects such as interviews, focus groups, various types of observations, and others. Additionally, the course provides a thorough background in the design, administration and analysis of survey strategies.
You will learn:
- to select appropriate empirical methods given a particular research question
- how to gather, analyze and draw conclusions from qualitative data
- how to define and operationalize constructs and variables for survey research
- how to assess the reliability and validity of survey measures
- to discuss competently issues associated with theory, design, implementation, and reporting of empirical research
